16oz can from Brewers Haven. Dark brown pour, bubbly head. Malty aroma, toasty, dark, pit fruit. Taste is malty, brown bread, raisins, brown sugar. Not overly sweet, more like a dunkler bock profile. Smooth, full.

tasty new doppelbock here, one of their anniversary beers i think, classically styled, a great release for this time of year. it looks a little lighter from the tap than a lot of them, more of a rich amber color than a brown one, and visibly well carbonated with rushing bubbles and almost two inches of fizzy cola looking head on it, good clarity too. it smells a bit sweet and rich, brown sugar even molasses notes to it, but also nice german lager yeast adding an earthy wet bready layer to the mix. soft spiciness, noble hops, and warming alcohol round out the aroma, very fresh and appealing. the flavor is familiar, maybe a little lighter than it smells, and lighter than a lot of these overall, but the alcohol is well hidden, the little bit of sweetness through it is not out of place, and i love the yeast profile this has. things like raisin and chestnut suggestions make it seem festive, the high carbonation keeps it drinkable, and i think this shows high attention to detail overall, its at a higher overall quality level than a lot of the beers they make, straight up. some neat nuttiness comes out as it warms a little, an intentional sort of decay element too, fallen leaves and compost, in a good way, some back end hops as well. on the whole this is excellent, one of my favorites from the anniversary beer project this year!
