Can poured into a Mountain Rambler Brewery pint glass
A: Pours golden orange amber with a frothy pale khaki head that settles to a firm layer and leaves plenty of sticky lacing.
S: Resinous spicy pine, mix of citrus juice and zest, a little tropical and stone fruit, slight grassy and earthy herbal notes, big lightly toasted bready malt, and plenty of caramel toffee sweetness.
T: Spicy resinous pine, gives way to citrus, grapefruit fading into juicy orange, some underlying tropical and stone fruit, passion fruit, strawberry, apricot, peach, and hints of almost over ripe pineapple and mango, earthy herbal slightly dank notes, plenty of lightly toasty bready malt, and caramel nearly toffee sweetness.
M: Medium to full body, moderate carbonation, a bit sticky
O: A buddy who's not into beer, to say the least, grabbed it for me. It wasn't fresh (around 4 months old) and the reviews were mediocre at best, so I didn't have high hopes. But it is a DIPA and I've been surprised by how well they've held up in the past, so I had to give it a go. Glad I did as it's actually still quiet drinkable. I'm sure the hops have trailed off a bit and the malt has taken a step forward from where it once was, but it's still got some charm. Hop combo works well together to give that classic West Coast while also showing off some new school flavors. With a little luck I'll get a chance to try it fresher and see what it's like in more optimal conditions.

12oz can, caramel colored with minimal head. Malty toffee and West Coast-vibes on the hop profile, pine and citrus-peel, bitterness and astringency on the back end with a big malt profile and a hint of booze.

Draft at Payette. Cloudy dark golden, silky off-white head. Aroma is toffee, light fruity hops. Taste brings more caramel and a healthy dose of citrusy hops. Sweet and mildly astringent. Quite an abrupt finish for the hoppy kick you get in the taste.
