DATE: November 5, 2020... OCCASION: enjoying some spoils from our Bloomsburg trip on another night waiting for a president to be declared... GLASSWARE: Duvel snifter... pours a dense golden body that hazes nearly three fingers of smeared white thickness... its lacing is a cirrus cloud of wrap-around... ginger, oregano, pepper, and lemon grass, perfumed by floral notes that suggest lilac and rhododendron... it's lighter and less forward than the Midsummer Night's version I sampled last night, though it has a lower ABV as well... it presents as smooth, lively, sharp at the teeth to denote its hops, though it is a bit thin on the palate--easy-drinking, refreshing, but a bit chewy... the lemon and pepper present first and foremost, with herbal and earthy notes that include bubblegum and resin... the Saaz produces a bit of a pilsner effect... though subtle, this sticks as a toned-down long-night companion that works well...
