Basil Cherry Blonde

i really appreciate this beer. on tap at park burger on holly, its got a nice ruby red hazy color to it, small head, awesome nose. fresh basil, like pesto happening, with a tangy sweet cherry aroma thats also very authentic. i was worried this would be a gimmick, but its not at all. it has an impressive balance between the two odd ingredients, and they were brilliant to get them coming through so real to the natural form. nothing artificial here at all. they were also smart to not try to make this an ipa or anything. with ingredients this pungent, its wise to keep the base beer real simple and easy drinking, which they have done. its a little jammy sweet in the middle, but totally resolved by the end of it, and with the basil providing some vegetal bitterness too, its more balanced that you would think it could be. summery for sure, and culinarily interesting, i think they have done about as good a job with this as possible, but i dont love the cherry aspect, and see they have brewed just the basil blonde, which i would love to try. basil is becoming a more popular beer ingredient, and this is one of the first denver brewers to use it well. i dont need more than one of these, but i like it rather well for what it is.
