absurdly strong stout here, must be a special edition as i havent really seen this around much, shocked to see it served in such a big glass at syntax at this strength, yikes! sticky and thick in the glass, not a lot of head on it from the tap, long legs too, practically radiating booze. past the alcohol, i smell the tang of the cherries, surprisingly prominent for how big and dense the base stout is, natural but also sort of candy-like with all the lactose in here, almost like a cherry syrup because of it, and i immediately know its going to be the sugar, not the booze, that slows me down on this one. the chocolate is nice though, desserty but appealing, and nice with all the bitterness of the dark barley in here. heavy sweet flavor, molasses, chocolate covered cherry with the liquor cordial inside, subtle anise, wet tobacco, raisin, and rum booziness as well. so much body here, totally palate and throat coating, and hotly alcoholic as it warms, but i like the flavor complexion quite a bit, i just wish it was a little drier. these guys have done a nice job with these huge beers over the years, and the cherry really brings a lot to this, but definitely a one and done for me, couldnt imagine drinking any more than that...
