Dark Samba is an imperial milk stout aged with Brazilian Amburana wood in bourbon barrels. This dark brew drinks smooth but doesn't weigh you down. Dance the night away with Dark Samba.

Pours very dark with ample foamy mocha head that lasts. I get a lot of the amburana wood in the aroma, along with chocolate malts, a little yeast and bourbon barrel. Flavor is chocolate, bourbon barrel is there, Amburana wood is very prominent and delicious. Very similar to Oskar Blues Bamburana. Feel is a bit on the thin side, could use a bit more body. Great flavor for 8% abv. Good carbonation. Overall a very enjoyable beer.

Dark brown pour with micro-thin lacing and no carbonation. Cinnamon, oak, Bourbon, light smokiness. Taste is somewhat light with some various layers of chocolate along with a particular woodiness with light smoke. Big, soft body with a silky texture.

This is a very interesting beer.

Appearance: Pours pitch black with a one finger beige head; though the head fades quickly, plenty of dots and squiggles hang around

Smell: Milk chocolate and vanilla with hints of cinnamon, ginger and coconut

Taste: Spice cake flavors emerge almost immediately to complement the milk chocolate and vanilla tones; cinnamon, ginger and, to a lesser extent, coconut are noted though there is only a vague hint of Bourbon in the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with moderate carbonation

Overall: The Amburana wood treatment is new to me but I am impressed that all these flavors can be pulled out without adjuncts (some folks on Untappd are ignorantly complaining about the use of spices in the beer); I am disappointed that the Bourbon is not more prominent, however
