Formerly: Bavarian Helles

Helles means “pale” in German, but don’t let that fool you. Unlike American Light Lagers, this German-style lager is packed with flavor and a clean, crisp finish. At 4.8% alcohol by volume, it’s sessionable but doesn’t skimp on taste.

Had on tap. Mostly clear golden body, white head with spotted lacing. Clean and higher carbonation level drive the feel, malt forward with decent dry yeast. This feel pairs well with the bready flavorings, grains, and old would grassy hops on the finish of both smell and taste. A solid helles for the porch

Definitely solid, hella cereal flavor on the first can but overall pretty good, I wanted a new lager to try and this one is pretty good. I definitely think I'd drink this again.

Pours a medium golden color with moderate head resolving to no lacing.
Smell is slightly sweet with a hint of caramel.
Taste is a bready malt with a slight tinge of bitterness
A well balanced Helles that's tasteful but not overpowering.

L: Pours a slightly hazy copper yellow color with a small fizzy head that dissipates quickly with no lacing.

S: Toasted bread, some peach, sweet malt, a slightly Tart peach (which is odd for a helles), some floral spicy hops.

T: Toasted bread, slightly Tart peach, some sweet malt, and some floral spicy hops.

F: Light and crisp but seems undercarbonated and a little watery.

O: Not bad but definitely some flaws.

6/26...pours bright clear gold, fast fizzy white foam that settles down. See through. Fairly faint malty nose, not much aroma evident. Clean helles taste. Slight chalkiness, but mostly grains and wheats. Fast finish. Light and summery. Mellow, and not with much bite.

Lovely easy drinking. A golden honey color, lots of bubbles rising to the top, but no head to speak of. Smells of grass, melon, malt. Taste follows with a clean swimming pool vibe. Excellent for those days when I'm going to have a margarita later.

Pours a honey yellow with a short bubbly head with some decent lacing. A balanced taste, not too bitter and feels crisp and smooth. Pretty good lager overall.

12 oz. Can

Pours a pretty nice clean/clear golden yellow color, pretty nice carbonation, with a pretty nice thick/creamy one-finger off-white head, which leaves some nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is malty, bitter. The taste is malty, nice little sweetness, bitter. Medium body. Overall, a nice tasty brew.

This was pretty good, if a bit spicier than I expected for a Helles. But it went well with a spicy chicken sandwich, so I guess it worked out okay. Good representation of the style overall, though could use a bit more balance.

Dark honey color, very minimal head. Grainy nose, breadiness, touch of sweetness. A middling introduction is improved by a taste. More fullness than most helles. First wave has pale grain bill than moving into flavorful, herbally hops with an appropriately bittered end. Lively and bubbly.

A tasty helles. Copper Kettle is doing good work.
