On tap at Copper Kettle, i usually don't try smoked beers but I figured why not? The color was a very light brown which struck me as odd for a porter. Smell was a bit of roasted malt and just a hint of smoke. The flavor was also more of that very subtle smoke flavor which was interesting because most smoked beers are so strong on the acrid and the burnt flavors. I will say this seemed more like a smoked brown than a porter but what do I know.

Flavorful with blissfully restrained smoke. Long nose of a pleasant bit of smoke that fades to a malty beeriness. Light body but very substantial with roast malt flavors. Handsome dark brown in the pint glass. Decent carbonation on the tongue. Caramel flavor is nicely balanced with the charred flavors, which also makes up for the mere hint of hops. The brewers list this one at just 17 IBUs.

On tap at the Copper Kettle brewhouse. Highly drinkable. Full, rich flavors with less alcohol. Malty but the very slight sweetness adds to the pleasure.

I'm doing few reviews since I can now use the "Had" feature which meets my needs. However, this one was not listed and deserves a formal review.

This is a dark brown beer with a nice khaki head that is attractive and inviting.

Nose is "light smoke meets big assertive fruity malt." Nose is appealing and most pleasant.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied, nice carbonation and very pleasant. It invites one to taste and enjoy.

Flavors are light smoke with fruity and pleasant malt. Stone fruit, light sweet meat, light pleasant smoke all make this a wonderful "drinking" beer and one that goes well with most food profiles. Not a big smokey porter but one that has a nice smoke character and lots of carmel, coffee, malty character.

Finish is a nice smokey fruity malt and follows flavor profile. Sufficient bitter coffee/pine/grapefruit skin to please most of drinkers, yet sufficient malt character to be very nicely balanced.
