this is a good, if a tad generic, belgian strong golden ale. i fit it somewhere in the middle of wynkoop's koop deville, and bull and bush's marriage golden. its got that same pale golden look with a lasting white head an inch high in a tulip glass. its got that same spicy fruity yeast aroma, backed by layers of pale malt and subdued hops. its got a very similar flavor too, although i like this one for its crispness. perhaps a bit more of a floral hop profile in this one, and a touch of booze comes through as well. mouthfeel is excited, fizzy for awhile until it warms up. medium body seems a bit heavy for this one, but its a good compliment to the alcohol that creeps in. overall not a standout, but a very well made beer.

Modest foam and lacing. Golden color with slight chill haze in the tulip glass. Rich and smooth. Buttery taste is quite distinctive. Lots of apple scent and more butter in the nose. Less carbonated than some with correspondingly less of the sharp flavors. Quite strong but not so much alcohol taste. Range of fruit flavors is interesting-- mango and dried pineapple.

Just tapped tonight at the Copper Kettle brewpub. Not a revelation, but quite a pleasant sipping beer.
