An amped-up Bavarian Helles. A beautiful shade of glowing golden amber in the tulip. On tap at the brewery.
Distinctive roast malt flavor to start, with a sharper, Pilsener-like tanginess. More tart than you'd expect for all the malt. The result is an intriguing balance of the beery elements. Sweet malt on the lips and in the aftertaste. Hops provide a modest bitterness. A fruity tang to the hops as well, and a leafy bitter quality to the finish. Medium body.
Another pleasant variation on the German themes favored by Copper Kettle.
