pours thin and grassy in color with a slight head and no lacing
nose is subtle on the apple, kind of fruity, estery and yeasty...but a bit strange/lagery skunky - white welches grape juice...strange but definitely not bad.
taste is kind of wrong...very much like a homebrew, the yeast and sourness is a bit out of control but not in a good way...not sure if they were going for the wild ale thing in this one.
feel is a bit on the watery side
overall this is a very underwhelming brew - not a whole lot going for it, not disgusting but not impressive.

Not a beer style I would normally consume, but it was a hot day and it sounded refreshing. It’s got a nice color which is slightly a deeper yellow tone than your normal lager or pilsner. Not much head and very little carbonation in this beer. You can definitely pick up the apples in the scent. The taste is sour, but it’s on purpose due to the granny smith apples --- I didn’t pick up any other flavors. It’s a pretty good beer, but I had enough after one pint.

This beer pours a dull deep yellow. Minimal head. Mild carbonation. Aroma of apple is apparent. It's not like smelling fresh apples though. Interesting flavor. You start to think apple, but the sweetness of apples doesn't follow. Bitterness is minimal. Finish is a little acidic. Thin. Light bodied.
Overall: Interesting brew. Makes me want to explore ciders in general. I don't think I will be revisiting it anytime soon though.

One of a mixed 12-pack that I recently bought from the Jack Russell Brewing Co. I ordered it directly from their Website, the service was excellent, both packing & delivery was spot-on.
Jack Russell Harvest Apple Ale comes in a 12oz tall, thin neck bottle. It has just the one main obverse label, which has a fading red background with an inverted horseshoe. Inside which is a golden colored apple with the words Jack Russell Harvest Apple Ale above. Brewed in the British Tradition with a small Union Jack underneath, sits off to the left of the label. No Freshness Date, but the Strength is listed as 5% ABV.
Wow, this pours a fantastic looking deep russet body, lucid with a hint of cloudiness. Anyone who has drunk traditional Cider in the UK will recognize this beer immediately, for it exhibits a large bubbled halo that clings to the edge of the glass. It has an almost flat appearance with minimal carbonation. If I did not know otherwise, I would say that this IS actually a Traditional English Farmhouse Cider.
The aroma is dominated by Adams favorite fruit Apples. Light sweet odors mixed with a crisp tartness so typical of freshly crushed apples, sharp acidic bursts give a Cider feel to this most marvelous offering.
Mmmm. Cider-Beer! This is not so much a beer with apples, or apple juice flavors, but moreover a Cider with hints of Ale in the latter third. Sharp acidic apple beginning, crisp acidic Granny Smiths fill the mouth, tartness in the middle with some light yeasts no doubt extracted from the apple skins.
I happen to enjoy Traditional Cider, which I find refreshing. This is absolutely no different to that, drinkable with a very refreshing thirst quenching capacity. Mouthfeel is above average, but not overpowering which lends to its attraction. Quaffable.
Overall: This is probably one of the strangest beers I have ever come across. I have drunk a lot of Traditional English Farmhouse Cider & this has many traits so distinctive of this fine hand crafted beverage from the rich orchards of Southern England. Yet it retains a semblance of Ale, light malts are definitely perceptible in the back end.
This is the 4th of 11 beers that I have from Jack Russell. It must be the most distinctive of their portfolio. I find the wording Brewed in the British Tradition" actually probably relates to the Cider Industry in this case LOL.
A Cider-Ale, a weird concept, but it really works. How? I have no bloody idea, but it is quite amazing. Very Enjoyable.
