Had on tap at the brewery 17/08/11.
Pours a pale saffron colour with light bead through thick haze. Head is white, tightly packed, decent retention. Good.
Tangy hefe aroma with a touch of meek citric orange, banana and some crisp green apple. Mild green pepper and cardamom spice; decent hefe, could be bigger.
Taste is tangy and a bit tart, at times verging on mildly astringent. Lots of banana hefe characters with tart green apple, slight capsicum character and finishes with a distinct lemony ester. Dry on the back with light phenols and a touch of hay as well. Not bad really, could use more spice or malt, because it's all just tart, but crisp and refreshing enough.
Quite bitey feel with a very dry pull from the yeast. Style-appropriate but I don't love it.
Decent hefe flavours, but just a bit empty overall, it lacks the warmth.
