White pines were once a staple in the landscape of the North Shore. Our White Pine Project IPA is a beer with a purpose – to help reinstate the white pine population in our back yard. Proceeds from this beer will go directly to planting targeted areas along the North Shore that will stand for future generations to enjoy. This IPA flaunts a robust aroma of bright citrus, tropical fruit, and pine, with just enough bitterness. The mellow golden malt character and effervescence carry these towering hop flavors as high as a stately white pine.

12oz can, adhesive label. Bottom stamp is 'CANNED ON 12/23/25', about six weeks in the can.
Clear, deep gold colored body. One finger of white head and this recedes to islands and a high reaching ring. Leaves behind webs and splotches of lacing.
Aroma of citrus, tropical, and pine sitting on toasted malts.
Taste is earthy and sweet. Flavors of bitter pine, orange and grapefruit citrus, and pineapple tropical. Bitterness is not sharp but rather mellow. Sweet toasted malt base. All flavors extend into the aftertaste.
Medium mouthfeel, with a bit of resin stickiness. Drier finish. Very good carbonation.
Good use of hops to bring visions of being in a white pine forest.

A big frothy white head covers this foggy gold ale, the head fades after a while, leaving a thin cap and some lacing. Aromas are you basic IPA, pine, grapefruit and maybe some melon, nice hoppy finish. Visited this brewery last summer and enjoyed all.

12oz can, exactly a month old, jamming out 'foldfree casual' on a negative 15 degree day

Slight cloud, orange gold, not many bubbles, nice lace, smells 'white' and 'green' and like armpit. Has a nice ashy tobacco-y edge to a very piney throwback IPA... juicy fruit and Juicy Fruit round out this pig

Another solid beer from a very underrated brewery. Proceeds go to help out mother nature supposedly, too

12oz can. Poured out a clear, golden amber color with a small, khaki-colored head of foam. It left sudsy rings of lace on the glass. It smelled of resinous pine, citrus, sweet caramel and toffee. Nice citrusy taste with toasted caramel, sharp pine and a crisp finish.

From a 12oz can:

Appearance: Clear gold, good head.

Smell: Very piney.

Taste: Starts with piney bitterness, then gets more balanced with a nice bready malt base underneath. Moderate bitterness.

Overall: 1st beer from the Castle Danger winter pack. A nice old-school type IPA, big pine notes both in aroma and taste. Balanced taste, not too bitter or too malty, solid IPA.

12oz can canned 11/01/22 into a pint glass.
L: Pours transparent radiant deep gold w a 3/4" rocky off white head, VG retention, mild large carbo bubbles, random spotty lacing.
S: A wisp of light dank diesel, citrus, light pine, caramelized malts, a hint of honey w warming.
T: Bright citrus, melon rind, various citrus zests, pine resin, lightly "spicy" hop tastes, a good malty base, moderately tangy w sustained bitterness and a long resinous finish, light biscuit and crackery bread in the finish.
F: Bright, juicy medium to med-light bodied feel w a fast finish but a long linger. Very gently drying.
O: An affably bold and great tasting American IPA. A little hop frwd otherwise quite well balanced and easy drinking at 5.6% ABV. Scores 1 out of 10 on the Dank-O-Meter. I enjoy this beer and will buy it again. It is excellent in its style.

Refreshing summer crusher. From a 12 oz can into a shaker, while looking out at beautiful Lake Vermilion. Dull and slightly hazy glowering gold. Nose is old school WC ipa pine and biscuity malt, maybe a little more caramel than is ideal for me, some pineapple notes, too. Taste carries nose forward but adds some bright citrus and melon. Could use a little more bitterness, though there is a little dank edge to it that is enjoyable. Mouthful is light, lively with very modest bitterness…not real dry on the finish. Nothing to write home about, but full of interesting flavor, pretty well crafted, and easy-drinking (if you like ipas, anyway).

Aggressive pour resulted in maybe an inch of loosely formed white head that receded quickly leaving behind a thin ring. Light amber in color and mostly clear. Aroma is largely muted. Some floral notes, but for whatever reason, it's very understated. Taste has old school IPA piney notes, with subtle floral / tropical notes underneath. Easy going down.

Pours a clear golden color. There's a 1 finger white head. Good retention and some lacing.
The nose is a very nice pine aroma.
Taste - There's a bit of a malty biscuit up front, with tropical IPA flavors, but it turns quickly to a nice pine hop flavor on the back.
Crisp and decent bodied.
The best of both worlds here - tropical IPA flavors, mixed with a more traditional pine IPA flavor. Good.
