Turn Up the Good! Vol. 2 is the sophomore beer to last year’s Turn Up the Good! Double IPA.
Vol. 2 is a dangerously good Double IPA with notes of citrus, pineapple, and tangerine. These fruity aromas are balanced by the subtle herbal characters from the Idaho 7 hops. It is a medium-bodied beer with bitterness that will appease hopheads and won’t turn away hop-shy drinkers.

12oz can. Can bottom is stamped 'CANNED ON 11/23/22'.
Partly clear, straw colored body. One thin finger of white head, which remains as an island and a ring. Leaves behind partial walls of lacing.
Aroma of pineapple and orange/tangerine, with an light malt base.
Taste is sweet fruit of orange grapefruit and pineapple. Earthy malt base. Minor bitterness for balance. Citrus lingers in the aftertaste.
Slippery medium mouth feel. Very good carbonation.
Sweet and fruity IPA.

12oz can from Wintery Mix variety pk into a nucleated pint glass.
L: Pours a chill hazed straw lemony light yellow w a thin white head that quickly goes to a skin & edge foam, fine carbo, light lacing.
S: Citrus, melon, a hint of bread, buttered caramel, overripe pineapple, a hint of yeast.
T: Bright citrus, citrus zest, lemon, sweet hard lemon drop candy, kiwi, white grape, sweet caramelized malts, a long resinous citrus zest linger. Moderately sweet & tart over all with full flavor. Light alcohol w warming.
F: Gently sharp, lightly thick and quite a soft med-light body w an electric and robust center, a long drying finish w a very long linger. It is a little bit sticky.
O: A lovely American lemon drop candy Imp IPA that has depth in citrus with an EZ drinking soft feel. Robust yet delicate. Packed with flavor, first sweet then zesty. It is very good in its style.

On draft at Castle Danger. Poured a clear, golden orange color with a small, off-white head of bubbly foam. It left sticky rings of lace on the glass. It smelled of orange, grapefruit, pineapple, pine and toasted caramel. Good tropical fruit taste with piney bitterness and sweet caramel.

12oz pour at the legendary Tuttle's
Look is chunky, filled with sediment in a good way. Smells like booze and weed. This one was solid after some disappointing pours: big garlic and onion hop flavor, but not in an unpleasant way. Way drinkable and too smooth at 8%

From a 12oz can:
Appearance: Clear gold, good head.
Smell: Mild fruitiness, not much.
Taste: Moderate sweetness, vague fruitiness, alcohol. Mild citrus finish. Gets a little better as it warms up.
Overall: DIPA from the CD winter mix pack. Maybe it should be in the "strong ale" category as it doesn't really hit the double IPA target. Balanced but pretty unfocused, not particularly bitter or specific malt flavors in there. Not flawed, but not too interesting.

Put the rest of the Minnesota breweries on notice. Castle Danger is here with an amazing double IPA. Balanced, perfectly hoppy with the ibus to match. This beer is an absolute delite. I'm looking at you Phantom Taxi. CD is coming for that double IPA crown.
