SERVICE: On tap
A:
Pours an inpenetrable black with a big tan creamy head that settles from two fingers to a fat film. Okay retention; foamy swoops of lacing. (4)
S:
Sweet and nutty. Roast nuts, dried dark fruits, roasty. (3.5)
T:
Roasty and nutty. Coffee, chocolate, nuts, rusty water. (3.75)
M:
Light-medium body, a touch watery/thin, roasty-feeling finish, pretty drinkable. (3.5)
O:
Good porter, but not a great one.
This is a tasty, simple, decently well-made porter. It might not take your breath away, but it isn't 'bad' by any means.
Pours nice with an okay (but not too pronounced) aroma of nuts and roast malts. The flavor is a nice compliment with a little more sweetness and a little more burnt bitterness coming through. My main gripe would be that it was a little lacking in body and could have been a little richer, but all-in-all it is a decent beer from a neighborhood brewpub.
Might have again (though I'd probably try their other beers if I went back); either way, the pub's worth a visit if you're nearby. (3.75)

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
