From a bottle, it pours a dark brown color with a lack of carbonation. When swirled aggresively, I get a light tan head, but then the beer returns to being still.
Based on the description, I was expecting alot in the nose, but it is very muted. A little chocolate, wet oak, dark fruit and roast, but that's it. Mostly just cocoa. The flavor is all cocoa and chocolate, brown sugar, molasses and a little pepper. It is a little thin and could benefit from more of the other elements other than chocolate.
To me, this is ok, but nothing special and another missed reserve society beer. This one makes me feel like they wrote the description of it before even brewing the actual beer.
