Obtained this a while ago although I wasn't sure if it wasn't on my way back home while on the road or via a trade. This was the first beer that I had from Three Stars and it was quite sweet and filling. Surprisingly smooth for an American Imperial IPA. It was a welcome change from what I'm accustomed to for this style but in the end, I wasn't quite sure what to make of this!
Not a bad pour to this as the liquid was a somewhat muddled copper hue with plenty of head top it off. Nice rings of lacing were left behind as the soapy layers could easily be seen from the middle of my pint glass, on down. Lots of agave, nectar, sweetness, and crystalline sweetness in the nose as the taste contained all of those to the same extent. Floral, somewhat dry, and subtly potent, this wasn't quite like any beer that I ever had as it seemed like a cocktail with jack fruit and tequila, as it was quite slick on the palate and left a memorable, if unusual, aftertaste...
A good amount of booze was in this but it wasn't enough to detract from the array of flavors that were present. Not sure if I'd have it again but this held my curiosity throughout my time with it, although I wish it wasn't quite as sweet. The hops that were present left a mild burn and were quite dry as I needed a chaser of water to finish it off. Canned on 3/12/18, there was little sediment in the liquid as it held up well and also called for a second go-around! Would love to give this another shot...

POUR: On draft into a 8oz plastic tester cup. Enjoyed at DC Brau via Hopfest 2018. APPEARANCE: Light copper in color and slightly hazy. Thin white head with minimal glass lacing. AROMA: Dank tropical citrus. TASTE: Rock candy/ cotton candy. Funky and earthy. Deep citrus. AFTERTASTE: Resinous and heavy mouthfeel. NOTES: Very much like rock candy taste. Hops used: Denali, Eureka, Simcoe. REVIEW/ RATING: good/ 3 out of 5.

Slightly hazy light copper with a finger of white head. Retention and lacing aren't the greatest, but not to be neglected.
Strange mix of hoppy aromas: tropical, citrus, and dank are all there, and somewhat strong, but don't seem to mesh.
Bready and caramel malt flavors, some strange earthy, floral kinda thing (the agave?), and then some citrusy hops. Not a big fan.
Mouthfeel is a touch heavy for the style
Don't know what's going on here, but I definitely don't dig it. At first I thought it was the agave, since I don't really consume much of it, but I've had IPAs with agave in the past I really liked. Beats me.
