Welcome to my opening salvo on/of New Beer Sunday (NBS) (Week 778)! It is now official - my DelMarVa (+ DC) ExCANsion in support of The CANQuest (tm) has now subsumed everything else. I knew that I had a massive backlog & during my (mostly) homebound recuperation following a prostatectomy last Summer, I undertook getting things back under CANtrol. I pulled hidden CANs from 6-pack bottle carriers, assembled brewery horizontals & weeded out duplicates to be passed on to @tone77 but I was still left with the daunting task of drinking, reviewing & rating everything. No problem. I have really cut down on my buying & I rarely drink away from home any more. I had this CANspiration that I would make my next horizontal regional, as opposed to brewery-specific. Little did I realize just how much of the backlog was CANprised of beer from the DelMarVa (+ DC) region! It is as if I have touched The Tar Baby & am now unable to extricate myself. Please do not misCANstrue this as a bad thing. It is just my focus in life at the current time.
From the CAN: "3 Stars Car Series"; "Double Dry-Hopped Double India Pale Ale".
I CANxiously Crack!ed open the vent, hoping for the best. When nothing untoward ocCANurred, I CANtinued with a slow, gentle C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass. It foamed up beautifully to form just under two fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, French Vanilla-colored head with decent retention, giving up the ghost in one big exhalation, leaving behind a mass of sticky lacing. 8=O Color was Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4 - 5), like liquid sunshine in my glass! This also called The Gelt Gang of Mammon, Midas & Croesus to attention as they came running in from my living room couch where they had been sleeping following yesterday's televised hockey marathon. The nose was redolent with citrusy grapefruit & now my mouth was watering! Mmm. Mouthfeel was dense & thick, like a dollop had been scooped into my mouth & onto my tongue. I allowed it to rest there, rolling it around, warming it in doing so. It was mainly citrusy grapefruit with just a hint of pine to cool things down. Mmm. Finish was bitter & dry, just the way I like my AIIPAs to be. YMMV.

It looks like I will be the first to review this beer. Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has a golden/orange color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of citrus, some malts. Taste is citrus, minty, light malts and alcohol, moderate bitterness. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a pretty good beer.

3.32/5: A pleasant DIPA with a good malt backbone, but isn't as explosive in flavor as it could or should be
