Dark brown where light doesn't pass. A near nothing head which completely disapates. No lace.

The smell is of semisweet cocoa powder and chalk.

This is a dry stout with strong mocha flavors. The body is watery while the carbonation is elevated. I get some darker chocolate but zero cream.

Reviewed as part of BJCP training, 20C American imperial stout. Canned 11/09/18

Jet black color, thick and opaque, very light fizzy head with basically no retention, mild legs

Nose roasty dark malts out front, dark chocolate and vanilla, as well as burnt caramel, hint of alcohol, hint of dark fruit esters in the background as well as mild earthy spicy hops

Taste very thick and rich, some roasted malt notes but more like rich chocolate ganache, deep rich caramel, a little cocoa, toffee and butterscotch notes too, not really and fruity esters, mild alcohol, smooth rich barleywine like malts, mild spicy earthy hop flavors with medium to lighter bitterness, mostly rich malts. Medium dry to sweet finish, lingering cocoa

Mouth is full bodied, creamy smooth oats, velvety like, a mild warming but smooth alcohol, carbonation on the lower side but acceptable

Overall a nice tasty smooth drinkable imperial stout, rich tasty enjoyable

On tap at 3 Stars in D.C.

Pours jet black with fine, light brown head.

Smell is roasty and nutty with notes of coffee and figs.

Taste is fruity and roasty with lots of coffee and some hazelnuts along with a fine bitterness and a hint of booze.

Mouthfeel is medium, well carbonated.

Overall, a nice stout that lacks that certain something.
