One word...DELICIOUS!!! If you love great beers that push the limits of convention, check these guys out. Seriously, a cask of imperial brown (tasty on its own) conditioned with vanilla beans and cocoa nibs directly in the cask? Unreal!!! This brewery does awesome stuff with their casks, so if you see one out at a bar or restaurant, check it out.

I grabbed a growler of this for my Super Bowl party in hopes of bringing it to the next level. I've never gotten a cask-conditioned brew in growler form before but it worked.

Served in a DC Brau tulip, because that's the way we DC homers roll!

A: Poured a brown color, with sort of a truffle-like texture on it as I peered through the glass. Looked like a dark chocolate milkshake, with a bit of rouge thrown into the mix. Soft, off-white head on top, but not a lot.

S: To die for! Seriously, with the combination of the vanilla and cocoa nibs, this was the closest to liquified "Tootsie Roll" in a glass as I've ever experienced. Malty, dessert-like, and with a hint of coconut (possible as a result of the combination of ingredients).

T: Sure, this was like a boozy vanilla and cocoa milkshake, but it was instantly recognizable as a Brown Ale rather than a stout or porter due to the lack of roast or char. This was a bit more boozy that I was expecting, but the candy components of this were VERY transparent.

M: Low carbonation, but it was perfect being that this was a cask ale and all. The sweetness definitely gave this one more of a "dessert" feel, best enjoyed in small doses.

O: This one brought down the house at the Super Bowl party and I got tons of text messages and Facebook PMs thanking me for bringing this to the party. Now it's my turn: Thank YOU "3 Stars" for making this. I hope you brew it again.
