Rustic saison brewed with rye, liberty hops and cofermented with saccharomyces and brettanomyecs. Final blending with our Flanders Red Ale creates a balanced fruity/spicy flavor, with a tart and dry finish.

On tap at the Growler Guys.
A clear red with a thin offwhite head with good retention and lacing this looks solid. The nose is spicy with the 20% rye malt that's in the grain bill lending an earthy, spicy note. This is paired with a Flemish red like blend of earthy, mildly meaty lactic acid and some vanilla and cherry. Mild barrel character with some oak. The palate opens sour with a blend of lactic acid and vinegar. There's vanilla, cherry, spicy rye and some caramel and honey. Drying, lactic and sour on the finish with a little vanilla, this beer is light in body and softly carbonated. Very nice.

a brett saison with a healthy heap of rye malt in it. not as woody, mature, or complex as most of the logsdon beers i have had, but the flavor is fantastic and what the rye contributes to this saison is outwardly obvious here, and its awesome. i love a little earthy, peppery rye in my wild beer, especially wild beer with such a rustic and old world fermentation complexion like is so often the case in the beers these guys make. this isnt as dry as i thought it might be, but that leaves room i think to experience all sides of the rye, a little nutty sweet thing, then a dusty earthy vibe, finally the spiciness and sort of timeless old worldy character to finish it off. this could have come from someone like blaugies or dupont, its got that kind of authenticity to it, albeit a little more sour than i have had from either of those guys, there is a very active bacterial element here as well as the more common bretty funkiness. there is a cool floral nature to this, maybe a combination of the hops and a delicate side of the brett, a really nice compliment to the somewhat intense rye character in here. nice carbonation, moderate acidity, and a ton of flavor. this is one of those breweries that i have extreme confidence in, even if i have no idea what i am getting into from them, i always know it is going to be great. they have never let me down! great use of rye here.
