a nice multigrain saison here with a little rye malt in the mix. it smells and tastes far less sour and funky than i have become accustomed to from these guys, which i kind of appreciate as something a little different from them, still yeast driven and interesting on the fermentation side, just not as outwardly wild and bretty as most of them are. a richer brassy color to this and a nice lathery white head from the tap. it smells unique to me, pale rye is obvious, a honey malt sort of cooked sweet thing too, and a rich cereal complexion that makes me think of harvest time even though i have never been a grain farmer in any meaningful sense. the flavor is great, a little spice to the yeast and a light belgian sort of ester profile, light rustic funk but not sour really at all, old worldy in a different kind of way, very rural and agricultural to me, fuller bodied, i taste a lot of the rye and a little generic barley sweetness, as well as a neat floral element from the hops and some minerals that make it interesting. a cleaner saison for these guys, but an awesome beer, especially this time of year. did this get packaged at all? i would love to try it again...
