22 oz. bottle hauled back from a really fun work trip that yielded roughly nothing for my company. At least I saw Kauffman Stadium & had some good beer! Split with my wife.

The pour is black & very active. Smells smooth…like smooth whiskey without any alcoholic bite. Like smooth jazz without the aural impingement. Super smooth. Never smelt anything like it. Nice.

Big Boy - Barrel Aged (insert witty comment). The nose translates loosely - this is smooth, sweet, & easy like Sunday morning. Much more like scotch that bourbon, with peat, limestone, chalky chocolate, bit of smoke. Peat really sticks around. Half a bomber? OK.

Pretty routinely good barrel-aged stout, & one that I could quaff mindlessly during a poker game or fishing outing or knitting session. Good beer.

Pours chocolate brown with a 1+ finger dark khaki head. Decent retention but minimal lacing left behind.

Quite subdued aroma. Just a whiff of bourbon and chocolate. Falls flat.

Big chocolate flavors. Smooth and creamy milk chocolate with edges of darker bitter cocoa. Caramel and roasted malt. Undertones of bourbon. Some oak and vanilla.

Medium body with a smooth mouth feel. Moderate carbonation. Lingering chocolate notes.

A tasty stout which could use a boost in a few areas. Aroma was practically non-existent and barrel character needs a boost. I suspect more barrel time would cause a noticeable improvement.

L: dark with things head

S: good malt/bourbon/chocolate mixture. Smells very smooth.

T: great dark chocolate flavor. I only get a subtle bourbon hit. Very nice.

F: smooth. Slightly chalky at the end. Not bad though.

O: nice hidden gem. Got this in a trade. Glad he included it. The taste is really nice here. If you like chocolatey beers then this is for you.

On tap at Tapcade. Poured a thick, jet-black color with a small, light brown head of foam. It smelled of chocolate, vanilla, oak and booziness. Sweet chocolate and toffee taste with vanilla, oak and bourbon.
