A: Pretty boilerplate label. Says batch "15-1," but no dates. Nice looking pour. Solid head with fine bubbles. Disappates fairly quickly. Decent lacing on tulip glass.
S: Belgian yeastiness. Getting some brettiness too. It's fairly faint, though. Not getting a lot of the dank hay that sometimes is present on these. Maybe a hint of peach.
T: Lots of fruity juiciness. A lot more of citrusy hop than dry, spiced saison.
F: Really easy drinking. Am getting hardly any heat on his 7% brew.
O: Bought this from a discount bin about six months ago in Lawrence, KS. Is at least a year and a half old. Have only had a four oz pour of this fresh once on tap, but want to say that this is better with some age on it. I generally enjoy everything I get from Martin City. This beer no different.

a belgian pale ale with brett, and not a great one. this is now the second brett beer from these guys that has been less than stellar to put it nicely. this should be so much better than it is. for one, the base beer may have some issue, the belgian pale itself seems highly phenolic, past estery into the chemical range, harsh, but also weirdly fruity, pears and peaches, medicine. the brett is underdeveloped, perhaps over pitched, and not nearly done doing whatever its going to do, this tastes like a yeast pitch not a finished beer. there is a nice hop profile here though, which i struggle to appreciate with the other flavors that are dragging it down, but this is well hopped, citrusy and quite bitter too. i think they need to go back to the lab on this brett culture, or else start forgetting about these beers awhile longer. both this and the shunned house they make are so wet and stinky still, not dry and refined, not even close. i felt almost bad for these guys when i tasted this, they are cool people and they make great beer, but this certainly isnt one of them...
