Martin City Age & Wisdom no.3, 10.8% ABV, Barleywine. Pours dark brown with a five finger tan head on a careful pour, which left lots of lacing. Nose is slight vinegar, taste is malty, a bit vinegary, low bitterness. Decent mouthfeel. Overall poor. I must admit that I'm not a fan of barleywines, but not sure this is tasting as they intended. Nowhere close to their description, or to other reviews. It was canned Oct, 2017.

Poured from a 12oz can into a snifter.

Pours dark brown with a small dark beige head. Decent retention and almost no lacing.

Sweet malts, alcohol, oak, and caramel on the nose.

Taste follows the nose, with caramel, oak, malts, alcohol, and a sweet finish.

Mouth feel is thicker, with low carbonation.

Overall a very nice barleywine!

Pours dark brown with a finger of khaki head. Fair retention with a long lasting rim of khaki foam. Lacing is non-existent. Aroma is boozy bourbon, oak, caramel, butter toffee, and toasted malts. Flavor profile is boozy bourbon, oak, caramel, and toasted and bread malts. It drinks hearty with a surprisingly robust bourbon note that really tastes a little boozy. No boozy burn though. Mouth feel is medium-thick with a filling, slightly grainy texture. Overall, this barleywine really strikes a firm balance between a bourbon barrel imperial stout and a quality English barleywine.

Served in a 12oz snifter.
