a red grape funky saison, oaky and vinous, a really special beer, huge thanks to drlovemd87 for sharing this one with me, an awfully exciting brew. it done with red grapes, but the label doesnt specify which types. its deep almost purple in color, dense and hazy, but frothy headed and very alive, sexy color, looks bigger than its listed abv, and has a crazy nose of red wine tannins, extended oak ageing, and fresh earthy wheat. the grape character is pretty strong in here, definitely a beer/wine hybrid type, but good enough to have come from one of the famous belgian or italian producers of such things, the quality is immediately evident. bacterial tartness, wood locked brett, and juice red wine grapes abound in the flavor, with the grape rising ahead of any other element by quite a lot. tart in its own right, fresh and juicy, fragrant and floral and full of terroir to me, i love this style and i think this is brilliantly expressive and balanced. there is a richness to it, a flavor saturation, and a unique wild character where the fermentation profile is different enough for this to be memorable. i have one more of their beers in the fridge that i am now dying to get into, but this was a heck of an introduction to this brewery. highly recommended! one of the best beers ive had this week, and its been a great week of beer drinking!
