Aged 6 months : Near opaque deep brown, almost black, with a copper hue and lots of activity. Slightly creamy brown 2-3 finger bubbly head, lasting around 5-10 minutes, with poor legs and average swirl reaction. Flavors of liquorice, dark berries, prunes, coffee, dark grains, walnuts, and herbal hops. Slightly creamy, but more oily, medium body with light crispy carbonation. Very strong strength finish, a bit chalky, thick earthy feel, molassy with brown sugar and raisins, also vinous but the aged feel while overly acidic (hits the throat). The bottle didn't age really well, heavily alcoholic and unbalanced, similar to whiskey. Astringent and tongue coating fruity barrel feel included, not fresh nor accessible. The body is not pleasant and it lacks complexity. Overall average quality craft, probably better if not aged, not an excuse for this type of brew.

Appearance: Poured with a finger of head that quickly disappeared, no lacing and not much in the way of rentention on this one, but expected for this style. The body is a rich, dark, nearly opaque brown with some slight ruby highlights when put up to the light.
Smell: Butterscotch dominates the nose with a hit of molasses and malt. Warming was very much needed to bring this one out, but even then the potency just isn't there.
Taste: Tastes like drinking a meal as rich molasses and malt with a slight touch of corriander of all things dominates the start as it shifts to a more roasted malt, raisin and licorice note that then turns to floral and earthy hops for direction.
Mouthfeel: The transitioning is not the greatest as it starts out strong, falls over itself and jumps back to life. The carbonation is decent, especially for a scotch ale but the molasses and earthy notes compete over the aftertaste in a mostly cordial fashion. It doesn't really taste boozey, but with how much goes on with it, you kind of are left with suspicions.
Drinkability: Nearly stout heavy and certainly drinks like a meal like the style should. Despite it not being the nicest of rides, it leaves you refreshed and settles down well. The punches of the flavours are the strong point here, as this strikes me as the kind of beer you have when you are ravenous at the pub.
Final Thoughts: A perfectly servicable scotch ale, and while it's impact is good, it's easiness is not. Really this needs to be paired with matching food and hunder. Meat pie, haggis or other organ meats seems like the perfect candidate to go with this one. Worth a whirl, but not much more.

Appearance - This beer pours a clear dark brown color with 1 finger of off white head, the head faded almost immediately.
Aroma - extremely sweet smelling, I get butterscotch, Caramel, Toffee, Brown sugar. Some very light hints of roasty malts underneath. Coriander, and some light floral hops,
Taste - The coriander really does dominate this with a nice spicy citrusy taste and that is contrasted beautifully by some toasty and roasty malts and the sweet caramel. Everything comes together really well, I thought it was going to be overly sweet but it isnt.
Feel - Medium bodied with strong prickly carbonation,
Overall - This is a decent cheap scotch ale, The flavors contrast so well that that has to be the high point of the beer for me. It really does come together where taste is concerned. Try it if you get a chance.

Copper-caramel color with a nice beige head that disappear quickly. Smell of red licorice/candy, caramel malts. Nice sweet taste with some caramel malts. But the spiciness from the coriander feel kinda weird.

Served from a 341ml bottle
A: Poured a deep brown with minimal head and left behind little lacing. The head eventually turned into a ring which stuck around for quiet a decent amount of time.
S: The coriander advertised is definitely the leader of the aroma. Some toasty malts are also in the background.
T: Coriander is the leader of this beer. It provides an interesting contrast to the malt character which is toasty and perhaps a slight bit roasty. The malts bring forth flavors of overcooked raisin cookies, heavily toasted bread, molasses and dark candied fruit in a pleasing fashion. Bitterness and hoppiness is appropriately mild so as not to clash with the coriander, presumably.
M: Moderate in body and carbonation is well done. Alcohol is astoundingly well hidden and not apparent at all.
O: Very unique but not something I would really drink again. The experience was good and it was interesting to see the coriander flavor in something besides Wits and other Belgian styles but it was nothing astounding. The coriander could get to be a bit much as well.

Bottle: Poured a clear mahogany color ale with a medium size dark white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of caramelized malt with strong fruity and candy like ester. Taste is dominated by fruit cake like notes with some caramelized malt and some candy-like ester. Body is about average with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Enjoyable and somewhat similar to the Assoiffée 12 I had a couple of nights ago which makes me think this Scotch ale is veering into Belgian territory.
