Listed as a rye pale ale, unfiltered with resinous hops and balanced malt sweetness.
The beer pours just a little ugly thanks to the lack of filtering and its dirty yellow color. However there is a nice sustaining head and decent lacing to make up for it.
The smell is hard to distinguish, light sweet malt with some peppery spice notes. I also get some tropical fruit as well.
Beer starts out smooth with some tropical flavors combining with a bready malt front. The rye makes it's presence known mid-taste through the end. I don't find the hops that resinous, bit maybe a little grassy. Combined with the rye, the finish is medium dry.
Overall this is a nice rye offering. It didn't blow me away but met my expectations on style and slightly exceeded them on execution. This would be a good go to beer if I were a regular here.
