Poured from a 500ml bottle into a teku glass. Pours a deep brown that allows little light through, an inch of off white/tannish head that falls somewhat quickly leaving a circle of foam around the top and each swirl, the head reappears quickly. Smell is a huge hit of lactic sourness right away and a touch of caramel and a little balsamic oak character. Taste follows, but more well put together. You first get s soft touch of sweetness, then lactic tartness, a touch of funk, and a good bit of oak presence in the finish. Feel is medium in body with very lively carbonation. Overall, I really dig this and especially dig that a brewery near me is kicking out something so close to a classic oud bruin! The bottle just says "Brett brown ale" and on here, it's called "American Brown Ale" but this is definitely an oud bruin, which I adore. Really solid stuff!

American Wild Ale. Barrel-aged brown ale with brettanomyces
Appearance: Pours a hazy deep amber with hints of pumpkin orange. Never quite reaches "brown". Head drops very quickly. Looks highly carbonated.
Smell: Nose is pleasantly acidic. Hints of dark fruit. Apricot. Lots of oak and tannin. Vanilla. Some brett funk.
Taste: Love this profile in sours. Big, not quite puckering acidity. Lots of fruit and caramel malt character. Brett funk emerges again. Highly carbonated, helps diminish the considerable acidity. Oak, tannin, and vanilla from the barrel.
Feel: Highly carbonated. Light to medium bodied. Nice malt sweetness, but overall pretty dry. Long, tart, tannic finish.
Overall: Lost Rhino's barrel program continues to impress. If you see bottles of this at the brewery, buy it.
