A smooth and roasty classic Irish-Style stout, finishing in a subtle note of dark chocolaty bitterness. Enjoy this velvety brew just as you would at the McMunn family pub in Ballybunion, County Kerry, Ireland.

I like to support local brewers so this a bit of a disappointment. The flavor profile very much lacks the pop that other stouts tend to offer. It is neutral at best in terms of both flavor profile and smell. If you're comparing to a Guinness this is akin to a distant redheaded step cousin.

Black with a big khaki head, good retention, solid rings of lace
Smells like french roast coffee and toasted pumpernickel
Tastes like it smells, smooth roasty bitterness
Medium bodied, appropriate carbonation
Decent enough Irish

From the can, it pours a stygian dark brown color with a nice light brown head that slowly reduces and leaves lacing. The scent is roasted and dark malts. The taste is the same, with some bitter chocolate coming through.

Appearance: Deep, deep brown, small beige head and good lacing.
Aroma: Roasted malts, dark bread, a touch of chocolate.
Taste: Earthy, grainy, bittersweet.
Mouthfeel: Dry, roasty, medium bodied, modestly carbonated.
Overall: If you like the style, you should like this example. Found it to be very tasty and drinkable

This brew had a nice and roasty scent and taste. It had a smooth finish with a lingering bitter aftertaste. Nothing special, but good for the style.

On tap, nitro:
Okay, this didn't seem very smooth for a nitro. But it seemed a decent beer ignoring any delivery bias.

Pours a dark mahogany, with a big, but not very creamy head. Slow to fall and foamy lace producing, the beige head holds dominion over the surface as a gossamer sheath for most of the pour.

Nose flitters between coffee and cocoa, maybe leaning a little towards the java side. Very light woody bitterness.

Taste has the cocoa with a reversal for two points. The bitterness hits early, and dries out the beer by the end taste. For a nitro, the feel is off, but it's a nice medium to light body with maybe a bit less carbonation than ideal.

A decent representation compared to many I've had. Little bolder than Guinness, but not a far cry in generic profile.
