Slightly hazy golden yellow pour with one finger head with minimal retention and nice lacing. Huge nose totally dominated by the chestnuts, along with a solid caramel malt backbone and some decent hoppiness. The taste follows suit with the chestnuts once again dominating big time. Sweet caramel malts and earthy hops complement the uniqueness of the chestnuts perfectly. Subtle pine notes and a touch of honey as well. Medium bodied and slightly fizzy, but also a bit of syrupy thickness to the mouthfeel. This is one surprising and unique beer. I actually picked it up in a souvenier shop in southern France not thinking it would amount to much. Now I'm kicking myself for only getting one!
