Hallertau Blanc hops push loads of grapefruit & stone fruit character into a very dry finishing IPA.

Pours a clear yellow with a finger of dense white foam. Head retention is great. Aroma is citrus, gumballs, orange and papaya with a little lemondew and grassy hops. It carries a big cleaner note throughout. Flavor profile drives forward bigger, bolder notes of citrus, lemon, orange, gumballs, and lemondew. It has a dryness that cuts it just slightly short. Mouth feel is effervescent with a medium-thick consistency. It has a softness at the start and finish with a little driving harshness in the middle. Overall, big IPA notes with light dryness.

brut ipa with hallertau blanc hops, this should be awesome, but it tasted flawed to me, my least favorite beer we had in here by a considerable margin, at least in my opinion. it looks alright, pale yellow, a little haze, short but lasting white head from the tap, a low glow to it. aroma shows the hops, but its like it was fermented way too warm or something, a weird phenolic estery thing rises up pretty fast and interrupts the freshness and delicate nature of the hops, giving me a chemical wash and a little astringency, really weird there, perhaps a misuse of the enzyme. the flavor has all the same weirdness as the taste, like melting plastic, waxy lemon polish, and odd tang that doesnt belong in here. i dont want this to be so weird on the fermentation side, because the hops are fresh and interesting and distinctive and appealing, but i cant get past the apparent flaws in this one. it must be from the enzyme, so many brut ipa types have this, especially at temperature and on the finish, really yucky to me, but those in my group minded it less, dont know why i am sensitive to it. i couldnt drink a whole one of these, too bad, because it would otherwise be a cool use of these hops...
