On tap and Nitro at the brewery, served in a Nonic pint glass.
Look: Black, with a half-inch tan head that dissipated to a slight foam cap with adequate lacing.
Nose: Dark roast, a little coffee, a bit of dark chocolate.
Mouthfeel: Medium, adequate carbonation.
Attack: Follows the nose, maybe just a bit thin initially but develops a nice full flavor.
Finish: A little bitterness from the dark roast to balance.
Overall: This is a really good American Stout, and the nitro pour doesn’t hurt it, either! I like it — nice job, Lazy Monk!

From a can
Pitch black pouring beer. Nothing shines through even when I hold it up to the light. The head that forms is 2 finger, tan and frothy. The head retention is decent, and there's some great lacing on the glass.
The aroma is a pleasing mix of dark chocolate, and notes of coffee all mixed together.
The flavor is a pleasing mix of flavors. I get plenty of dark chocolate that starts it off. I get notes of roasted peanuts in the mix. I also get a nice dark coffee flavor that hits toward the back. all flavors get mixed together, and work well. There's also a slight bitterness to smooth out the hint of sweetness that is in this beer.
The feeling of the bitterness lingers, and this beer is very full and smooth feeling.
I'm really digging this beer, and a pleasure to drink.
