9/1/24 - (Can - Home) (Chicago, IL) Can Notes: Received as part of a trade with Todd @@cheeseheadinMinneapolis on BA, refrigerated upon returning home until opening this afternoon. 16 oz, no can date. Premium Kolsch, 4.5% ABV, 18 IBU. Clean Crisp Balanced. Brewed and canned by Lazy Monk Brewing LLC, Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
Appearance: Poured about half the can into a small narrow stange. Generous bright white head leaves minimal lacing over the clear golden straw base yielding mild carbonation. Looks very good. 4.25
Aroma: Light aroma, light cracker and malt flavors, had to try hard to get. 2.75
Taste: Taste fuller and nice, cracker, mineral water, light salt and grassy notes. Consistent with style, enjoying. 3.75
Mouthfeel: Faint fizzy carbonation, light and easy drinking consistent with the ABV. Malty flavors compete with bittering hops to a a near draw, though finish is sweetness and cracker. 3.5
Overall: This is a good Kolsch, could have used a little more spicy flavor. Not sure if age impacted. Overall, I am enjoying, would order again and revisit this review if a known fresh version yields different results. Thank you Todd for another good beer! 3.5
