2023 release, Drank from the tap at the taproom and 16 oz cans. Tastes better out of the tap. 5.5% abv, IBU 20
Malty, rather thick body/mouth feel. Nice head that leaves plenty of lacing.
Slightly sweet and smooth. Some bread, grain and a little caramel. Plus that trademark Lazy Monk flavor: earthy, yeasty, hint of smoke. There is a hint of spice also.

16oz can, 2022, 5.5% ABV
thanks to Ken for the can!
L: crystal clear bronze colored bier; thin foamy beige head
S: a little faint; toasty grain, Noble hops, lager yeast
T: toasted/nutty grain, light caramel, hops are spicy, earthy, and grassy
F: medium body, moderate carbonation, nice dry finish for session drinking pleasure
O: this has everything you’d want in an Oktoberfestbier. Prost!

Pours a clear Amber color. The head is white, 1 finger, frothy, but retention not the best. There is decent lacing on the glass.
The nose is slightly toasty, and malty. The aroma is slight.
Taste is slightly smoky up front. Some sweetness. Some maltiness.
Body is moderate. Some carbonation going down.
This is a good Oktoberfest/ Marzen. Well balanced.

Everyone is brewing a marzen these days, the exception to Lazy Monk's beer is the very European take on it. It pours a nice golden color with strong malt aromas. The hops are subdued on the nose, but very much in balance with the malt flavors. The beer could stand for a longer aging time and tastes a little green. Talking to the bartender in the tasting room it sounds like the brewery has a two to four week production time for each brew.

Oktoberfest pours a darker golden color with a nice head. There isn't much of an aroma, carmalized malts come through, nothing different from any other Marzen. There is a nice spicy malty taste. Good full flavor, and easy to drink. Overall this is a solid Marzen beer, good full body, and strong taste.

A - Pours a wonderfully vibrant crystal-clear medley of bronze/orange/ruby with a one finger cream/beige head that fizzles to nothing fairly quickly.
S - Smell is quite nutty, along with some raw bread dough. Caramel/toffee is in there somewhere. If I dig deep I find some interesting notes of allspice and cinnamon.
T - Taste is nutty, and pretty much matches the aroma. very malt-forward, little to no hops detectable as is to be expected in a Bavarian Marzen. Some sweet fruits lurking in the finish. Actually tastes quite a bit better than I was expecting.
M - mild carbonation leads to a smooth body, allowing the rich flavors to coat the tongue amply
O - A delicious Oktoberfest that is dangerously drinkable, very on-point for the style.
