16oz can, painted label with an adhesive patch for the individual beer description. No dating information found.
Clear, brown colored body. Khaki colored head with the pour, and this retreats to islands and a thin ring. No lacing.
Aroma of roasted malts, toffee, and a touch of chocolate.
Taste is led by the roasted malts, with minor char. Sweet overall. Flavors of toffee, chocolate, and coffee. All flavors continue into the aftertaste.
Medium mouthfeel. Metallic note. Dark roast coffee bitterness. Okay carbonation.
Mediocre for style, rather simple and unrewarding.

I tried a 16oz'er this beer off the tapper at The District in downtown Eau Claire, Wisconsin. It poured a nearly opaque dark with thin ecru ring head that did not leave any lace. The scent had dark chocolate and grain notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with dark chocolate, subtle roast, and grain presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a great beer.

Pours a brilliant cola brown in color, topped with a medium-tan head. Head drops after a minute or two and leaves a touch of lacing.

Nose has some cocoa notes, a bit of fusel alcohol and also some off-notes. Seems a little off-style.

Sweet and malty on the first sip, with big notes of cocoa and milk chocolate. Some bittersweer lingering character, but no real bitterness to balance the sweetness.

As a Baltic-style porter I expect a either a stronger beer or one with a bit more complexity, but overall it's not a bad beer and would rate as above average in my book if it were labeled as a chocolate porter.

Worth a try if you like copious chocolate notes in your dark beer styles.

16oz tallboy can. Slightly tacky sticker that indicates its the Baltic Porter, but I won't dock any points for that. Poured into a snifter 12/4/2014.

A- Dark cola brown colour. Looks perfectly black in the right lighting. Comes with a true dark mocha coloured head with average retention time, leaving a slightly messy medium-sized collar, splotchy film and no lacing. [3.75]

S- Rich coffee, slightly burnt toasted malt, roast, dark chocolate, slightly grainy toffee sweetness. Nice aroma that isn't too overwhelming in any one respect. [4]

F- Sharp smoke, espresso, dark chocolate, roasted malt, slight earthy finish that seems a bit bittersweet when mixed in with chocolate sweetness. It's certainly fairly bitter on the finish, which is kind of unexpected for whatever reason, but it is within reasonable limits for me. Very tasty, nice complexity, no off-flavours. [3.75]

M- Medium-thick body, silky and substantial with a nice earthy bitterness on the finish that adds another layer of complexity that leaves a strong impression on my tongue even a minute after I take a sip. Not difficult to drink by any means, nice balance and good carbonation. [4.25]

O- Pretty solid baltic porter. No off-flavours, no heat, nice complexity and body. Worth trying if you're in the Eau Claire area. [3.75]

Really good brew! Traditional flavors, very mild aroma. Photographic appearance. Served with a foamy, frothy, tan head that slowly settled and a bit of lace. Aroma and flavor are very traditional for a porter. super drinkable. one point is, for a baltic porter, the strength seems mild.

Baltic porter pours a nice black color with very a nice tan head. There is a strong coffee aroma, with a nice malty backbone. Coffee flavors come through, on a strong malty backbone, has a nice sharpness due to a balanced smokey flavoring. Good full flavor, and yet easy to drink. Overall a good example of a Baltic porter.

Thanks to Peter for bringing this back from Eau Claire.

A: deep copper color, clear with very subdued head
S: mild, almost IRS-like with deep dark roasted malt, clean, burnt chocolate undertones, some EtOH
T: deep roasted malt taste with good hop bitter finish but in balanced with style, deep dark roasted malt
M: medium bodied, good malt backbone that was balanced by hops, not a lot of EtOH noticeable
O: subdued CO2 was a problem but maybe it's an older growler (there was a lot of head space in the growler which I didn't like -- fill it to the top!)
