Belgian Saison brewed with Flaked Oats and fermented with our house saison strain, then package conditioned naturally with Brettanomyces claussenii.
A late hop addition of Mosaic lend to the tropical flavors produced by the B. claussenii. Distant Land is an ode to the melding of classic Belgian beers, with new American brewing techniques. Lightly hoppy, lightly funky to help get us through the long nights of Winter.

Poured from a brown 12.3 oz. bottle. Has a golden color with a 1 inch head. Smell is of fruits, funky. Taste is barnyard funk, yeast, some fruits and malts, light spices. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent beer.

The foam was a little overwhelming on the pour, but after that melted down, I had a golden yellow.
The smell and flavor both had more citrusy fruit than I am used to in a saison, but not in a bad way. I enjoyed the slightly different taste. Feel was kind of foamy, with lots of carbonation.
Overall, a good beer. Not leading the pack, but I certainly wouldn’t turn it down.

12.7 ounce bottle, 03.21.2018 stamped on the back label, I'm guessing that's the bottling date. Served in a Teku glass, the beer pours a mostly clear light gold color with about an inch and a half white head that stuck around for a long time. There's also a lot of lacing. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like lemon, hay, funk and grainy malt. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there's the addition of some floral, peppery spice and pear flavors. It's more earthy/floral/funky than it is tart. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, it's easy to drink but has a high amount of soft carbonation. I thought this was good, definitely worth trying!

A: Pours a slightly hazy pale yellow in color with moderate to heavy amounts of active visible carbonation rising quickly from the bottom of the glass and faint pale golden yellow + straw yellow colored highlights. The beer has a four finger tall dense pillowy foamy bright white head that slowly reduces to a large patch of finger thick film covering the entire surface of the beer and a thick ring at the edges of the glass. Light to moderate amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Slightly stronger than moderate aromas of earthy brett barnyard + hay funkiness over the top of light to moderate aromas of pale + wheat malts with minimal amounts of sweetness. Light aromas of tropical/mango hops and a hint of citrus/lemon hops.
T: Upfront there are light to moderate flavors of pale + wheat malts with minimal amounts of sweetness. That is followed by slightly stronger than moderate flavors of earthy brett barnyard + hay funkiness. Finally there are light flavors of tropical/mango + citrus/lemon hops which impart a hint of bitterness which fades away relatively quickly leaving lingering light funkiness.
M: Light to medium bodied with slightly heavier than moderate amounts of carbonation.
O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and a pleasantly light mouthfeel. Enjoyable with a nice combonation of light funkiness and tropical hoppiness. I could have a couple of these.

Rich golden hued with an inch of thick, creamy, billowy, tightly knit head. It dissipated to a fingernail within about 5 minutes. Crystal clear complexion. The aroma is of sweet light malt and light Belgian candy sugar with just a hint of tart Brettanomyces in the end. I'm tasting that sweet light malt and light Belgian candy sugar, but the sweetness is rounded off the the Brettanomyces. The mouth is highly carbonated and dry. It drinks almost like champagne.

Bottle. Poured out a hazy, cloudy golden color with a large, tan head of foam. It smelled fruity and funky with some yeastiness. Sweet fruity taste with some slightly tart notes.

Sample at Mikkeller Beer Celebration Copenhagen 2018, Gold Session. Golden color. Aroma is bright and grassy with floral notes and herb infusion. Taste has really soft floral notes, some wood and light minerality.
