a tasty and clean hoppy saison here, these guys do everything well, and its exciting to see them put out a bunch of this sort of thing all recently. this is a little less funky than a lot of the bottled ones and barrel aged and wild ones they do, but still rather rustic and earthy, and its less hoppy in the new school dry hop sense than something like their prism, but its a balanced and drinkable beer too, and the saison yeast they use contributes plenty of flavor, i dont think this beer is missing anything, although a nice fruity drying brett complexion along with these hops would be splendid i reckon. this has some oats and raw wheat in the mash i reckon, starchy and a little fuller body than some of their others without being heavy, big and round and pillowy though, beautiful with the citrusy dry hop this has. subtle belgian esters in the yeast and a bit of bitterness to finish it, the slightest little tang, dynamic and drinkable and delicious. perennial really is making some of the best beer in the midwest right now, great to see them getting some cans out there into the world, seems like the format everyone wants to buy and drink right now, and i think they look good and make a lot of sense. i would drink this all summer if it were available around denver...
