Though rare, the German Porter found its beginnings in the early portion of the 20th century. Brewed with a base of Munich I and Vienna, with additions of Caramunich and Carafa for color and depth, Magnum and Spalt hop additions in the kettle and finally fermented at chilly temperatures with Bock yeast. Lagered for 12 weeks, this beer reminds us of our favorite watering holes, cool days in August and Bavarian chocolate chip raisin cookies. Brewed in collaboration with our friends at The Pharmacy Nashville.

Typical looks. Half way between a brown ale and a stout.
Tastes slightly malty. High on the carbonation scale. Well balanced with the sweetness and dryness.
A little harsh from the carbonation the more I divulge.
Overall; Not bad but I think I will be returning to my beloved stouts.

Thanks to FBarber for this one.
Rec'd in NBS BIF #17.
Deep dark in color with a khaki colored head. The foam is loosely packed, with moderate retention.
Nose pumps a variety of both sweet chocolate and caramel notes, as well as a more nuanced brown bread and raisin.
The flavor follows the nose faithfully but I would say it's more balanced with the sweeter notes in the nose presenting a more subdued approach. A mild prune meets fig note pops in on the back end also.
Mouthfeel is medium, lightly carbonated, and finishes smoothly as a tapering off of the sweetness nods in the ever so slightly bitter range.

Poured a clear, dark brown color; thick, frothy with a touch of creaminess floating on top, light khaki colored head, long lasting and sticky. Excellent dark roast malt nose; chocolate and cocoa tones. Fantastic flavor; lightly sweet chocolate and cocoa predominate; mild grain husk bitterness. Medium-heavy body; generally lager-smooth mouthfeel; light sweetness with a touch of dryness at the finish.
There are very few German porters offered nowadays. Perennial Artisan Ales created a winner. Dark grain goodness, smooth, and very satisfying.

Dark brown to light black in color with a half inch densely packed brown head. Light, soapy lacing. Dark, lightly roasted malt and black licorice in the nose. I’m tasting that dark, somewhat milk chocolatey malt. The mouth is dry and smooth.

Nice “over the plate” porter without a bunch of adjuncts. On draft pours nearly black with thick tan head. Taste is roasted malts that give off hints of chocolate and char, a bit of sweetness, some hops on the finish.

16oz can. Can bottom has the stamping of 'BEST BY 07/23/23'.
Dark brown colored body. Two fingers of tan head, which retreats back to a partial cap and ring. Leaves behind some string and spot lacing patterns.
Aroma of dark roasted malts, molasses, and a bit of black licorice.
Taste is dark roasted chocolate malts, a bit of smoke and char, a touch of dark fruit, and black licorice.
A little thinner than medium mouth feel. Some tongue numbness. Good carbonation.
Earthy and dark porter, which drinks like a cola.

You don’t really expect to see a classic style like an American Porter on Tavour, an app mostly filled with hype beers, but if something this basic is on there then it must be good. Well, hopefully at least. Let’s get into it
Pours a very dark brown with 3 fingers of creamy light tan head that slowly fades to a cap and leaves decent lacing
The nose is quite roasty, maybe a bit aggressive for the style but I’m into it. I’m picking up on aromas of charred malt, dark roast coffee, dark toast, earthy hops, cacao nibs, molasses, and light raisin
It has a better balance in taste. The roast is still present but there’s a nice fruity sweetness to offset it. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting medium roast coffee, milk chocolate, charred malt, black cherry, brown sugar, molasses, and light caramel. The swallow brings notes of milk chocolate, dark roast coffee, burnt caramel, black cherry, raisin, brown sugar, earthy hops, and light vanilla
A medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a smooth and creamy beer. Finishes mostly dry with a nice bitter bite
This is a damn good Porter. Easy drinking and tasty

I don't see as many porters as I used to see. So, it was nice to run across this one. From a tall aluminum can, this one is beautiful. It is a deep brown color, nearly black, with a thick tan head. The aroma has coffee and dark malts...highly roasted scents. The taste continues the roasted theme, with a slightly dry balance. Flavorful and full in body. This is a treat and an incredibly well made beer. Excellent.

Had on tap. Brownish black body with leaky edges, full tan head. Smell focuses on the roasted malt front and center, earthy char tones with hint of brown bread support. Taste has some sweetness from the malt to go with the earthy roast, toasted grain are charred by the end of the sip, rugged bittersweet dark chocolate is warming and a pleasantly tying this all together. Feel is sneaky rugged and roasty but with a refined lighter body, soft too. Goes down easy with plenty of enjoy along the way
