Our 10th anniversary blend is a barrel-aged imperial stout with a 50/50 blend of Perennial Artisan Ales and Side Project Brewing barrels averaging 24 months of age. Hot fudge and brownie batter swirl, ooze and buoy the oak and whiskey character acquired during two years in barrel. Burnt sugar, toffee, vanilla frosting and a hint of amoretto all adorn the burly cocoa structure.

This pours a very dark black color, with a small white head, and a little bit of lacing.
This smells like dark chocolate fudge, roasted malt, charred oak, vanilla and marshmallow, with dark fruit, almond, and spicy whiskey.
I basically always love the Perennial anniversary beers – and this is one of the best ones yet. It’s got a ton of delicious barrel – nutty and caramelly, with vanilla sweetness, and spicy oaky bitterness, along with a wonderful fudgy and rich dark chocolate character from the base stouts.
This is rich, fairly thick, with very little booziness.
This is a fantastic blend from two of the best Midwest stout breweries.

People don’t want to admit this is in the same tier as BBT. More barrel, less fruit. Better drinkability, but not as much complexity. An awesome expression of non-adjunct BA stout. Well worthy of an anniversary release.

Sometimes the stars align on your beer-finding journey and this was the case with the Perennial 10th Anniversary blended stout. We had a trip planned to St. Louis and the brewery was doing a lottery on the Oznr app. Danielle won, once again, and we had to go to the brewery to pick up. The collab was with Side Project so we knew they were bringing out the big guns here. We talked to the owner and he let us know that they used 3 barrels picked from SP and 2 barrels picked from PAA. There are no additions or coffee notes on this one. The raw barrel comes through which cools down as the beer is exposed in a glass. There are tons of brown sugar, raisins, and caramel coming through and the beer was worth the travel.

poured from a 750mL bottle into a snifter. pours a thick, motor oil black with the tiniest brown foam collar. bourbon and chocolate on the nose. taste has bourbon, chocolate, oak and even some dark fruits as it warms. thick, full mouthfeel from start to finish. this is a great no adjunct barrel-aged imperial stout. it’s not the most complex barrel-aged imperial stout but it’s smooth, bourbon-soaked chocolate in a glass. delicious.
