Pours reddish brown going to a dark ruby color when held to the light. Very small tan head and no lacing.

Get the funky, horse blanket funk first. Red grape, dark cherry, and oak. Hint of caramel and dough.

Fruity and wine like on the tongue. Grape, cherry, and raspberry. Funky brett, almost like an overripe cheese. Oak and mild vanilla.

Light and mildly tart on the tongue. Medium carbonation. Lingering fruit and brett.

Nice, light, easy drinking beer. Good wine characteristics. Brett is present but not overpowering.

750ml bottle. Bottle dated 5/2015. Served in a stemmed glass 1/2016.

Pours a dark ruby reddish-purple body, half finger white head with very minimal retention time, no lacing. Looks still, like a lighter red wine would. Smells of a ton of wine grape, leather, a bit of citrus, solid acetic tartness, oak, a bit of biscuity sweetness. Flavour is hefty on the wine grape, mild oak, good bit of funk, fairly acetic that is slightly more restrained than a typical Side Project fruited 375ml release, and well, is decently sour. Leather, a bit of citrus zest seems to round things out. Mild grainy sweetness in the background. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, substantial, good carbonation despite what the lack of head might indicate, and a moderately dry finish. Very tasty wine barrel aged saison with a lot of grape flavour in it. It's delicious and would recommend grabbing one to drink each year, even though it is not a cheap bottle at approximately $20+ a bottle. Not sure how it would do with age, but all I can say is that at 6 months, it's pretty damn tasty if you like red wines.
