Cape May Brewing Co. "Demisemiseptcentennial Ale"
12 fl. oz. brown glass bottle, "BB04/11/18" and sampled on 030918
$1.83 @ (Wegmans) Cherry Hill Wine, Liquor & Beer, Cherry Hill, NJ
Notes via stream of consciousness: Just 4.5% abv on this one? OK. Celebrates a Villanova anniversary, OK, got that too. Let's see, it's a very hazy gold in color beneath a short head of creamy white foam. Unfortunately the head has already dwindled by the time I got to this part, but there's some spotty lacing left behind. The aroma is very grainy and bready, clearly from a fine quality Pilsner malt, and my guess is, German in origin. It's also floral, and just a touch fruity. Not surprisingly the flavor follows. I'm looking for something else but it's just not there. A little bit of grassiness. Hmmm. Not that floral, fruity, grainy, and grassy is the worst thing in the world, but it's certainly nothing new, and to be honest it's not really that balanced. The grainy malt seems a bit fuller than it needs to be, and that's a slight bit odd at just 4.5%. I wonder what the calories are on this thing. The bitterness is limited, certainly given the amount of malt it has, but it's not "sweet", just out of balance and very grainy and bready. Medium bodied and gently crisp. It's an oddity in my mind. On the one hand the Pilsner malt screams "Germany", but then the maltiness is quite English in nature, and the hops don't really do anything in the way of straightening that out. I'll have to say pass on this one.

A bit of stink at first, blew off this beer, and it settled into a flavor packed 4.5% session ale worth at try.
A) Pours a complete, hazed orange body with a 1" head that leaves a film and scant lace.
S) A bit of stink at first, blew off this beer, and it settled into neat orange and floral hops.
T) The taste was ample, grew as the beer warmed, offering grass, forest floor, orange, malt iscuit, and floral hop bitters.
F) Medium, floral hops, fecund and peppery like nasturtium flowers.
O) Low alcohol pale ale built for Villanova's 175th.

On tap at the brewery.
Pours with amber color and excellent clarity. Good white head leaves sticky lacing on the glass.
Malts and hops in the nose, with amore hop forward flavor. Flavorful with mild bitterness for style.

Pale yellow golden in color, white head. mild hop aroma, crackery malt. Not a lot of flavor either way malt or hops. Thinner bodied. Just a meh beer.

Appearance: pours a hazy orange color with a 1" head that quickly falls.
Smell: orange and floral hop tones rise from the glass.
Taste: grass, orange, biscuit, and a floral bitterness are the main flavors.
Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer. Crisp throughout. Clean aftertaste with some floral notes lingering late.
Overall: a lower alcohol pale ale that is extremely easy to drink and has a nice flavor. I thought this was in between a light pilsner and a mild pale ale.
