Crafted at nine pounds-per-barrel, Anniversary Ale 9 is a celebratory feast of hops, blasting you in the face with a tidal wave of hoppy bliss. This tasty little number is brewed with an overabundance of wheat and a silly amount of hops, yielding a beer worthy of celebrating another trip around the sun. Juicy, tropical, and saturated with hops, cheers to nine years!

Fluffy head on the pour with poor retention, just off white, zero stick to the lacing. Opaque yellow liquid, tiny bubbles slither up the glass sides to become visible. The citrus component very large in the nose which helps freshness and lift, there’s a taut dankness like marijuana resin rather than leaf, pine sap, not getting any florality and the fruit element quiet, mainly pineapple, nectarine, peach, really do enjoy the freshness per se. Close to light-bodied, welcome especially given the NEIPA look which suggested heaviness. The pinpoint prickle from the carbonation lasts throughout. Tart white grapefruit, lemon to naval orange citrus makes it crackle and there’s an uptick in black pepper and table cracker to keep it popping. Slightly fruitier here with apricot, peach, pineapple to lower green melon notes. Again more resin and sap than damp herbal presence. Not too dry and arguably honeyed through the finish. Not sure what (if anything besides the hops poundage) changed in the recipe from Anniversary Ale 8 but much prefer this. (Canned 6/12/20)
