Brewed by:
Cape May Brewing Company
New Jersey, United States

Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 7.00%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Winner of Best IPA at the 2012 Atlantic City Beer Festival! Intensely hoppy, very strong pale ale without the big maltiness; this beer is strongly hopped and clean, lacking harshness and a tribute to historical IPAs. The citrusy centennial hop was used generously as you can imagine.

Draft. Pours a hazy amber/orange with no head but nice lacing. Aroma is heavy floral and pine with hints of grass mixed in. Thinner than expected with some light malt upfront but then a string hoppy bitterness at the end. Made a great pair for my burger at the Ugly Mug in Cape May, NJ but otherwise unremarkable and indistinguishable from other IPAs.

poured from a mini growler brought back from my parents on their vacation (thanks mom and dad!)

a clean copper pour with a finger of head (poured into the proper can-glass from the brewery!), nice amounts of lacing left behind throughout the session. aromas of mango/grapefruit/pineapple.. what a lovely thing dry hopping does to a beer! caramel backbone. oh my, what a sweet nectar! a very fruity hop profile.. grapefruit bitterness with pear/apple sweetness (yeast?), pine notes as well, caramel malt.. a very sweet profile with a nice lingering bitterness. medium body, modest amount of carbonation, goes down a little too easy for the abv (as if that could ever be a bad thing!)

this is a great ipa. seriously, everything i've had from this place has been top notch. i know a lot of people are balls deep over carton and kane in nj, but please - take the time to check out cape may brewery!

The beer is orange with a small, fleeting white head. The aroma brings sourdough bread, dank hops, biscuits. Balance of malt and hops. Bready with some light bitterness. Finishes dry. Alcohol presence is mild. A decent beer, though not necessarily what I look for in an IPA.

A: Pours an amber to yellow brown color. Full head initially retains very well. After an hour of distractions it still has some head film on top.

S: Strong hop aroma but on the milder side - centennial is definitely present. Crisp aroma.

T: Bitter hoppy flavor is loaded with spices and some grass. Good malt balance towards the back gives some sweetness to the flavor.

M: Good, but not a full carbonation.

O: Great brew and wondering why it took a year for it be posted!
