750ml bottle into a snifter. Oak and bourbon notes dominate the nose and palate on this one. The Imperial Stout base is almost an afterthought in both areas. The finish is boozy with a lot of warmth from the barrels and high ABV. Tart/sour notes detract from the beer.

While visiting the brewery, they had this available both on tap as well as available to-go in bottles. I couldnt resist trying it. It pours black in color with a rich mocha head that lasted fairly decent for it's strength.
The aroma is straight whiskey. I enjoyed it but it was kinda laughable that I had to struggle to smell anything other than whiskey. Under the booze is a mild note of oak, caramel and vanilla-like sweetness.
The taste is earthen and oaky with plenty of whiskey. A dry bitter roast and char element is present with a bit of baker's cocoa lasting into the aftertaste. Luckily the flavor is not as dominated with whiskey as the aroma is.
This is a medium bodied brew with a big alcohol warmth. It is solid stuff but not for the weak of heart. You really gotta enjoy whiskey to wrap yourself around this bugger. I couldnt resist...I bought a bottle if this and the "oaked" too. Cant wait to see what a little age does to her.
