Palm Ridge is a handmade whiskey distillery on a cattle farm near Umatilla, Florida making only 500 cases of Florida Bourbon style whiskey yearly. Tried back to back with standard head high IPA.
A: Single finger head on a murky golden with rust and crimson colored hues.
S: nice fruit aroma with floral and herbal notes. Fruits are mosty orange and grapefruit. As the head recedes the strong sweet bourbon aroma dominates. One of the most dynamic aromas I have experienced.
T: the barrel aging really mellows this one out. The flavor is less dynamic than the standard creating an entirely different brew. Now floral and earthy notes dominate with the citrus only providing a tart finish. A smokey and toasted note is new to this one showing up in the finish.
M: medium body and moderate carbonation.
Overall: amazing what barrel aging can do. This beer isn't made better by it but it is certainly different.
This one is 6 ABV. I neglected to put that when added.
