Collaboration between St. Bernardus & Weihenstephan.

Kombine 2025 is an unfiltered, full-bodied blond beer (6% ABV) with a subtle hoppy aroma. A first for St. Bernardus as we have never before brewed a bottom-fermented beer. Additionally, this beer does not undergo bottle fermentation, another first in our brewing tradition. And if that was not challenging enough, we also committed to brewing this according to the German Reinheitsgebot! We used Weihenstephan’s yeast and a blend of hops from both our own and Weihenstephan.

I'm mesmerized by this golden beauty, the merangie head signals some crafty brewmanship at work.
Creamy mouthfeel, tastes kinda like a good helles (like Tucher) crossed with a hefe is my feeble explanation.
After being gobsmacked with my first 4pack I went back and bought 5 more is how much I adore this. Gonna be a good beach quaffer.

I really nice hybrid beer. Belgian yeast meets Helles lager. Great mix.

Bottle at Loom beer & cocktails, served in a chalice glass.
Hazy yellow color, with a thin head that doesn't hold. No lacing. 2.5
Aroma of cloves, bananas, citrics, some caramel. 4
Medium body, light texture, flat carbonation. Semi sweet texture. 3.5
Taste follows the aroma. 4
Had I tasted blindly, I'd have said it's either a light body weizen or a heavy body wit .
Pretty good.

Served in a willibecker. Pours a lovely golden hue with a hazy to the clarity and a loose, quarter inch, bone-colored head that slowly settles into a 1/8th inch cap embedded with ringlets. Nose is quite pleasant - yeasty and floral. Taste follows nose. Very interesting, but I’m not getting the clean crispness you get from a Helles. Mouthfeel is light-medium in body with an easy, even carbonation. Overall, interesting and complex, and quite drinkable.

330 mL bottle from the LCBO; best before Aug 2026 and served slightly chilled. This is the last of a dozen or so bottles that I purchased last autumn.

Pours a bright, clear golden-yellow colour, capped off with more than an inch of tight, sparkling white foam that steadily recedes. Several minutes later, a thin collar and cap are left behind, with a quarter-inch band of even lace draped around the glass - looks great to me. Wholesome aroma of grainy malts, freshly baked bread and floral, grassy hops, with suggestions of honey, pear and pepper.

This is a delicious lager with a rich, malty flavour profile: this may sound a bit fawning, but it really is a pleasure to sip. Bready malts, grains, sourdough and honey sweetness are all easily discerned, with minor notes of orchard fruit also coming through (pear and apricot, rather than apple). Hints of grassy, floral hops impart some bitterness on the back end, but it finishes with a bready, honeyed malt sweetness that fades into the aftertaste. Medium in body, with moderately low carbonation that weakly nudges the surface of the tongue, resulting in a smooth mouthfeel. Very fulfilling for a lager, and extraordinarily drinkable for 6%.

Final Grade: 4.24, an A grade. As mentioned up top, I have enjoyed this beer on multiple occasions over the last six months, and I am genuinely disappointed that this is most likely the last bottle of Kombine that I'll ever imbibe. It's a fantastic helles: a little stronger than average, sure, and correspondingly more robust - but the fact that this is not the most 'traditional' helles does not mean I'm inclined to criticize it on that basis. On the contrary - it's probably my favourite of all time. I'm sure there are still pockets of dwindling stock across the continent, so if there are any BAs who haven't yet tried Kombine, I encourage you to do so before it's too late.

Interesting Collab. Mostly Weihenstephan vibes, same yeast and sour green veggies style flavor. Light, fluffy, airy like St. Bernardus. Basically St. B Brewing Wei. Mostly bready notes, like soft wonder bread and sour dough.

Interesting.
Really rich aroma. Like the richest, most fragrant aroma I’ve ever smelled in a beer.
Well carbonated.
Rich, nice flavor.
