Spring Street Saison is a Belgian style farmhouse ale. The Saison is our flagship brew that helped spawn the formation of Avondale Brewing Co. Our Saison is brewed with our proprietary house yeast, a 4 malt blend and traditional Slovenian hops. Our unique brewing process along with the combination of the finest ingredients creates a thirst quenching brew with no equal. True to style this unfiltered ale has a coppery golden color and rich malty backbone that creates a unique farmhouse brew. Flavors burst with tropical fruit that combine with hints of spicy and peppery notes that are derived from our house yeast. One sip and you will fall in love.

More thanks go out to richj1970 for this tasty beer. From 12 oz. can

Pours a cloudy-with-fine-yeast gold topped by a crown of white foam that threatens to overtop the glass. Lace stays lashed to glass as head retreats to skim and ring.

What a sweet, floral med. strength aroma at first! Perfumey notes are joined immediately by over ripe fruit funk, lemon-limey citrus, doughy yeast sweet and tart. A very alluring bouquet.

Nice med. strength taste that is all the flavors of the nose joined by light peppery spice. It's a well balanced and bright mix of flavor, delicious.

Very soft on palate, low carb. despite the look, med. viscosity, very refreshing, with a finish that features lingering clean lemon and pepper.

Excellent saison that hits a homerun in the key requirements of the style, that it be hearty and refreshing. Recommended, sure to please.

Really good beer. It's got the characteristics, but would like even more sour and "wild" taste from it. Really
solid smell and good mouthfeel. Earthy and yeast characteristics.

A: nice, creamy, one finger head, quickly dissipating, peachy yellow color (hazy)
S: definite yeast and pepper right up front, with some pleasant and (Very) mild grainy notes bringing up the rear.
T: very pleasant grain note right up front with a nice almost peachy character following, then some clean, drying bitterness sits on the tongue, some astringency as well
M: somewhat dry, but to me, avondale's regular (more belgian) lineup has always felt a bit too syrupy, and this beer is no exception, also a tad oily
O: this is a solid enough beer, but I don't think that the yeast comes through in the right way enough to feel like a saison, people can argue all they want about the archaic definition of the term (it is archaic lets be honest), but nowadays, even though saison can still mean a lot of things, it means a certain few of those things the most, and I don't think this beer hits enough of those boxes for me, don't get me wrong, like I said before, it's a good enough beer, but if it was designed for consumption in the alabama summer, there is too much alcohol in it, and if it was designed to be a true saison (in contemporary definition) then it's not quite that either. Avondale produces plenty of beers in their sour program that feel much more like a saison than this. not bad though

A nice pale gold cloudy beer with a two finger white head after an aggressive pour. Nice lacing on each tip of the glass but it doesn't stick around. The aroma is yeasty and spicy with hints of what smells smoky or like burnt matchsticks. I smelled it many times and I get that smell every time. The taste is grassy and yeasty with spiciness and peppery flavors. There is some nice malt and but the bitterness and spiciness slightly overpower the sweetness. All of this seems to play nice together and ends up with an enjoyable overall beer.
