On-tap at Native Sons Alehouse. On to the beer:
El Segundo's take on a saison features a light orange color with golden hues, a thick head which leaves creamy lacing around the glass. The aroma has a mild tartness, also pears, lemon pepper, and the aurora of the farmhouse. The funkiness isn't as intense in the flavor, which is led by a charge of sweet phenols and bubblegum. There are notes of lemon and vague spices, so it does maintain the character of the saison, but the tartness I smelled I couldn't taste. It's a medium bodied saison with low carbonation and a slick touch, which does spoil an otherwise good stateside example.

On tap at Tony's Darts Away in Burbank, CA.
Described as a cherry saison.
Pours a murky light golden-yellow with a foamy white head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Foamy swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, earth, spice, and slight tart fruit aromas. Taste is much the same with grain, chalk, earth, spice, and cherry flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of earth bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is pretty good beer that smells solid, but I am only getting distinct cherry qualities in the taste on this one.
Serving type: on tap.
