Had to get this once I found out it was available. I enjoyed last year’s anniversary beer - New English American Porter - and I knew that this one would be good working with El Segundo. I always love the emails from Geoi, mainly the beer descriptions, but one of my favorite things is when he gets El Segundo beers that were brewed that day. Anyway, back reads Citra, Nelson, Mosaic, Chinook and Cascade, all which I should pick out except for maybe Chinook. Let’s go.
Poured a medium yellow clear color with four fingers of white rocky-to-frothy head. Tons of bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass, looking like a snow globe. Outstanding-to-excellent uneven circular lacing. Very good retention. (Sight - 4.25)
Smelled a very nice mix of hops, getting in order Mosaic, Citra and light Nelson for sure. Might be getting spicy Chinook, some spice for sure. Not getting Cascade in the nose. Also hints of either Southern Cross or Galaxy, but most likely just wishful thinking. Also some tangerine peel, rather dank resin, orange, floral aromas, pine and some tropical notes. Wonderful on the nose. (Smell - 4.50)
Taste is almost as good. Getting a nice mix of the four hops that I got on the nose, in order Citra, Nelson, Mosaic and Chinook. That Chinook sure is coming in spicy. Still not picking up the Cascade, maybe Centennial more than Cascade (yes, I know Centennial is not in it). Also resin (not as dank as the smell), tangerine peel, orange, mango, persimmon, floral hops, bitter pine, some herbal hops and some leafy vegetables. (Taste - 4.25)
Medium body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt, bitter finish. (Feel - 4.25)
Wow. Loved this one. Had only reviewed one El Segundo beer, but tasted a bunch at the brewery and his was up there in terms of their IPAs. Congrats, Geoi, on five years and having the best damn beer shop in San Diego. (Overall - 4.25)

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
